Introducing the world's most competitive digital DC drive.

At the heart of drive package, is DCS 400 -a new generation of DC Drives ,specifically designed to meet ever changing needs of the machine builders. "Total ease of use" was brief given to the drive's designers by our customers.

The result is a drive that is :

  • As easy to handle as an analogue drive but with all the advantages of a digital drive.
  • Easy to design into machine equipment, having just the number of right features.
  • Easy to install and set-up,evn by those without special drives know-how.

Features
  • Digital 6-pulse converter
  • 10-430 kW (15-570 hp)
  • 20 to 820A DC
  • Input voltage from 230 to 500V,50/60 Hz
  • Non-regenerative and regenerative drives
  • IGBT - field supply for field weakening is included

Easy Installation

By fully integrating the field supply ,Abb's engineers have been able to patent a design with only three wires in and four wires out. This gives reduced cabling. Further installation time and cost can be saved by :

  • A simple to follow step-by-step installation guide
  • Bottom plate cable entry ,giving rapid and easy access to power terminals.
  • Easy access I/Q connections via bottom cover plate.
  • The drives' ability to operate directly on any worldwide voltage from 230-500V 50/60Hz mains,
    115-230V aux

Commissioning Wizard

The DCS 400 is the first didgital DC drive which can be commissioned by those without special drives know-how.But more importantly the commissioning and start-up time is dramatically faster than other DC drives.

The wizard uses either ABB's commissioning tool DriveWindow Light which is based on RS 232 using a standard plug or the drive's control panel

Once motor data and process data have been entered, the user is guided through the commissioning by using the self-tuning functions for armature current, speed, field current and flux.

No additional documentation or hardware is need to commissioning the DCS 400 thereby saving time.

Application macros with only a few user-selectable parameters, makes the commissioning of specific applications easier, compared to the several hundred parameters associated with other Dc drives.

Compact Design

The DCS 400 compact design brings substantial space savings to machine builders, allowing them to integrate more accessories within the same space.

  • Existing Dc drives are easily replaced with the DCS 400
  • At only 270mm(10 3/4 ")wide, and with all power cables located at the base of the unit, rather than the side ; two DCS 400 units can be installed side-by-side in the same 600mm (23 3/4") cabinet.
  • The field supply including the fuse and choke are integrated into the DCS 400, further adding to its small size and simplicity of design
  • No need fo a field voltage adaptation transformer to match the line supply voltage with that of the motor .The DCS 400 uses few components, leading to smaller size and higher reliability.
